Phase 1: In Process
Over a month has passed since we attended the state orientation to begin the process to foster/adopt. We had many questions and concerns and ultimately wanted to know what we were getting ourselves into. The staff person who conducted the orientation could only answer some very basic questions, unfortunately; some of her scheduled speakers did not attend. We left that first session with more questions than answers, but we were given a sheet of placement agencies that could further help us.
In late April we attended another orientation with a placement agency that was highly recommended. This process involved a couple of videos, statistics, and more defined timelines for our new journey. I was fairly impressed with how all the information was presented. It was fast paced and to the point. When it was over, we knew that we had made the right decision. All our worries, concerns, and questions had been answered. Our applications and background checks request have been submitted and we entering Phase 1 of the application process.
