#plasticfreejuly Day 2
Ok, so now I'm technically all caught up! At least for now. Let's see how long I can keep this going!
Day 2 tip is: Ditch the plastic loofah, scrubby, or whatever you call it!
Instead opt for a natural loofah. They can be cut to suit your needs and have various uses. Growing up I despised using these because they were 'so scratchy' but now I love them and prefer the 'scratchy' exfoliant texture.
I cut one piece about the size of my hand to use in the shower, and smaller ~2 in. circles for using on the dishes. Be sure to wring it out and hang to dry. If you start to notice any mold building up be sure to replace it asap.
This is the full size loofah soaking in my kitchen sink. First I rinse in hot water to take away any seeds or grime that might still be lingering about. Then once it is soft enough I start cutting to size with kitchen shears. I find it easier to cut when wet.
This is a very loved loofah ready to compost! Remember any signs of mold means it's time for it to go. I replace mine every other month or when it starts to fall apart like above.
One it has served it purpose we cut it into small pieces and add it with the rest of the compost pile.
We haven't bought a plastic scrubby in a while and I don't think we are ever going back!
